With a height of 4,580 feet Wright Peak offers a spectacular view of the high peaks. We climbed on a clear summer day that afforded a view across Lake Placid to Whiteface and Lake Champlain and to Marcy and dozens of lesser peaks. Algonquin Peak, the second highest peak in the Adirondacks loomed over us as we ate lunch just below the tiny summit.
A plaque just below the summit memorializes four airmen who died in 1962 when their B 47 bomber slammed into the peak. The day's only disappointment came when we were unable to locate the plaque.
